PG Optics was born in 1981 in Fore Street, Alberton when advertising and “open” windows
were taboo. Pretty soon the demand for quality eye care in Alberton exceeded the
supply, and Bracken City Optometrists was born in 1984. Paul Gluckman’s good name
and quality of optometric services spread and soon Isis Optometrists of Sandton and
Afri Optic Optometrists in Randburg opened. This was followed by branches in Roodepoort,
Centurion and Val de Grace.
PG Optics as a group has practices situated in the greater Pretoria and Johannesburg
areas, servicing a wide range of economic groups and catering for all incomes and
PG Optics offer frames and lenses at very reasonable prices making eye care freely
available to the masses. Several packages are available to cater for lower income
groups and our policy is that everybody is able to afford quality spectacles at any
branch of PG Optics. By buying wisely and using reputable laboratories PG Optics
is able to keep costs low enough to suit all pockets.
At PG Optics we accept Edcon cards and do lay byes which assists lower income earners.
Our motto is: “If you’re going to wear spectacles, why not wear the nicest, lightest
pair of glasses you can afford! The focal point on everybody’s face is the eyes,
and this is the area we look at most when engaging with others. Your spectacles are
the first thing people see when they look at you, and for this reason any glasses
we make needs to look great.”
At PG Optics, our recipe for success is: “Having well trained optometrists and front
line staff who are informed and motivated making our customers enjoy their overall
visual experience. In addition, we have well stocked modern practices with fresh
fashionable imported frames that caters to all tastes in fashion for all types of
prescriptions, making looking good a breeze.”
